Install, update or uninstall

What you need

• macOS 12 Monterey or later, on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac.
• Adobe Illustrator 2025 (version 29) or later.
• An administrator password for the Mac.

Install

1. Save your workSave any open Illustrator documents.
2. Download the installerChoose Download for macOS on the download page.
3. Run itOpen BrandReforge-….pkg from your Downloads folder, follow the steps and enter your Mac’s password when asked.
4. Restart IllustratorQuit Illustrator completely (Cmd+Q), open it again and choose Window › Extensions › Brandreforge.

Then activate this Mac.

If macOS blocks the installer

macOS may say Apple could not verify the installer. To open it anyway:

1. Choose Done in the message.
2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
3. Choose Open Anyway next to the Brandreforge message, and enter your password.
4. The installer opens. Continue as normal.

What gets installed

• The Brandreforge panel for Illustrator, for everyone who uses this Mac.
• Brandreforge Helper, a small background app that starts when you log in. It keeps your licence up to date, backs up projects and runs AI features. macOS shows a Background Items Added notice for it; that’s expected.

You don’t need Node.js or Terminal. If Brandreforge Helper is switched off in System Settings › General › Login Items, the panel can’t activate or refresh your licence; switch it back on.

To work, the panel needs Illustrator’s extension developer setting (PlayerDebugMode), which the installer turns on for you. The uninstaller puts back your previous setting.

Update

When a new version is out, the panel tells you. Download it from the download page and run it: it replaces the old version and keeps your projects and activation. Restart Illustrator afterwards.

Uninstall

1. To free this Mac’s place on your plan, choose Account › Deactivate this Mac in the panel first, or remove it later in Account › Macs.
2. In the Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder…, enter /Library/Application Support/BrandReforge and press Return.
3. Open Uninstall BrandReforge, confirm and enter your password.
4. Restart Illustrator.

Your projects and settings stay in your own Library › Application Support › BrandReforge folder, and come back if you install again.
