What Logo Grids makes

Logo Grids has three modes. Everything it draws is an editable path or text on its own layer, so you can refine it by hand.

  • Base grid: Square, Isometric, Hexagon or Golden ratio, on the active artboard.
  • Construction: anchors, handles, outlines, guides and optional circular trajectories, drawn from the selected logo.
  • Clearspace: a boundary measured from your logomark or logo height, with an x square on each side.

Generate a base grid

  1. Open Logo Grids and choose a grid type: Square, Isometric, Hexagon or Golden ratio.
  2. Under Customize, set the cell size, margin, grid colour and stroke.
  3. Turn on Create native Illustrator guides if you want guides as well as paths.
  4. Choose Generate. The grid is drawn on the active artboard.

Draw construction lines

  1. Group the logo first (Object › Group) so the guides cover all of it, then select it with the Selection tool (V).
  2. Toggle the components you want: anchors, handles, outlines and guides.
  3. Open Customize components to set each one’s fill, stroke and scale.
  4. Choose Generate. Each logo keeps its own layer, and regenerating replaces only that logo’s guides.

Under Preferences, Circular trajectories fits circles to true arcs in your curves; review them before treating them as construction rules. Turn on Live updates after generating to redraw the guides as you change settings.

Draw clearspace

  1. Group the logomark and the logotype separately inside the logo, then select the whole logo.
  2. In Clearspace, choose what to Measure from: Logomark height, Logo height, pixels or points, centimetres or inches.
  3. Set the size, for example 0.5 × logomark height, and choose Generate.

The diagram lands on its own Brandreforge · Clearspace layer: the clearspace boundary, the logo’s bounding box, a dashed box around the logomark and an x square on each side.

Brandreforge only uses a logomark it can identify: a group of two or three parts, with the logomark the most square part. Otherwise it asks instead of guessing. Select just the logomark with the Group Selection tool and choose Use selected piece as logomark, or measure from the logo height.

Which plans include it
